LEE MILLER doc by Teresa Griffiths wins big at BAFTA Television Craft Awards

Wonderful news from the 2021 BAFTA Television Craft Awards where the LEE MILLER documentary won two gongs.  Claire Guillon picked up BAFTA for Best Editing and Teresa Griffiths won the Best Director in the factual category. The film was competing under the BBC title LEE MILLER: A LIFE ON THE FRONT LINE. Internationally, the film is known as CAPTURING LEE MILLER.

With access to exclusive archive footage and celebrity interviews, Teresa Griffiths’s feature documentary follows the extraordinary life of Vogue model and artists’ muse turned war photographer Lee Miller. Best known for her self-portrait in Hitler’s bath, Lee easily held her own in the company of Man Ray and Pablo Picasso and became the only female combat photographer in Europe during WW2. Today, she is celebrated as one of the most important photographers of the 20th Century.

LEE MILLER: A LIFE ON THE FRONT LINE celebrated its World Premiere at DocAviv International Film Festival and first aired on UK Television on BBC TWO for VE Day in 2020. The film was previously nominated for the prestigious Rose D’Or Award for Best Art & Culture Documentary as well as a BANFF Rockie Awards 2021 in the Documentary & Factual: Arts & Culture Category.

Congratulations on the well-deserved wins to Director Teresa Griffiths, Editor Claire Guillon, and the entire production team around Rachel Hooper at Erica Starling Productions, Ronachan Films, and Executive Producers Angus McQueen and Vesna Cudic (MetFilm).
