MetFilm Sales launched its first finished film at CPH:DOX 2018 with the world premiere of Jerry Rothwell’s THE SCHOOL IN THE CLOUD. The film follows TED Prize-winning scientist Sugata Mitra who installed an unmanned Internet kiosk in a remote Bengali village to pioneer “The School in the Cloud”.
As children encounter the Internet for the first time, this film looks at whether they will be able to use it to transform their lives and questions the future of education in a networked world. Mitra attended CPH:Dox along with TED Prize Director, Anna Verghase and Director Jerry Rothwell to take part in a Q&A after the premiere. Mitra and Verghase also delivered a talk during CPH:Science, while Rothwell taught a masterclass alongside Laura Nix entitled ‘How to Change the World. One Film at a Time’.
Produced by Al Morrow and Dan Demissie for MetFilm Production, THE SCHOOL IN THE CLOUD’s funders include the Sundance Institute Documentary Film Program and TED Prize Filmmaker Award.
