Hilla Medalia and Shosh Shlam’s LEFTOVER WOMEN took home the Documentary Feature Award at the Philadelphia Film Festival.
The 28th edition of the Philadelphia Film Festival took place this October 2019 and LEFTOVER WOMEN was selected as part of the festival’s In Competition slate. The film — which follows three single women in China who, according to societal conventions, have passed the appropriate age to marry and have children — took home the coveted Documentary Feature Award. The festival on the film:
“Moving, thought-provoking, and often troubling. this timely documentary shines a light on the startling expectations set for women, and how these beliefs still run rampant in certain parts of the world.”
