MetFilm Sales has two documentaries screening at this year’s edition of DOC NYC, 8 to 15 November 2018.
America’s largest documentary film festival, DOC NYC is based out of New York City’s West Village’s IFC Center, Chelsea’s SVA Theater, and the Bow Tie Chelsea Cinema. Celebrating documentary storytelling this festival showcases new achievements in documentary film along with panels and conversations. It also seeks to make connections that happen “only in New York.”
MetFilm Production’s THE SCHOOL IN THE CLOUD, directed by Jerry Rothwell will screen on Wednesday, 14 November and Thursday, 15 November. This documentary looks at the future of education in a networked world. TED Prize-winning scientist Sugata Mitra, installs an unmanned Internet kiosk in a remote Bengali village to pioneer, “The School in the Cloud”. As these children encounter the Internet for the first time, can they use it to transform their futures? This will be the film’s New York Premiere. Get tickets now.
Hot Docs 2018’s opening night film THE HEAT: A KITCHEN (R)EVOLUTION will also screen for the first time in New York on Monday, 12 November. The film takes viewers behind-the-scenes to meet the women chefs at the helm of some of the world’s top restaurants, including Anne Sophie Pic (a.k.a. the “Queen of French Cuisine”) of Maison Pic; beloved UK star Angela Hartnett (and Gordon Ramsay’s former protégé) of Murano; and award-winning New York chef Anita Lo.
